Before I came out here I did some research into some of the more remote parts of Dubai and the UAE. A place that I kept coming across was Liwa Oasis. Liwa is a string of villages which runs in an arc through the desert on the border with Saudi Arabia. It is an interesting place to visit as it is the place of birth of the ruling families of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. It has a long history of date farming and actually has more fresh ground water than much of the rest of the UAE. It is also well known because it is the location of the Moreeb Dune, one of the largest in the world, which is pictured in the images above and below.
